WSL Extremes Website

Client: WSL (Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research)

Year: 2025

In the Extremes research program, WSL researchers studied the impact of extreme weather events – droughts, heatwaves, heavy rainfall – on the environment and society. The findings are both significant and fascinating, but not easily accessible to a broad audience.

WSL commissioned us to present the latest insights from environmental research in a way that is easy to understand and visually compelling for the general public. This meant closely collaborating to analyze, distill, and structure the content – and ultimately defining the right medium to communicate the message effectively.

An interactive web app

In close collaboration with our client, we developed a concept, a visual language, and ultimately a website to communicate future climate extremes to the Swiss public.

The result is a digital experience that combines current research on the effects of drought, heat, and heavy precipitation with engaging storytelling – allowing users to explore different climate scenarios through interaction, clarity, and a touch of dark humor.

... presenting a heavy topic in a fresh, accessible way.

The web app invites users to discover how climate extremes could affect Switzerland in the future. With a clear visual language, meaningful interactions, and a pinch of humor, the platform presents a heavy topic in a fresh and accessible way.
